In Hollywood, it seems that everyone has heard or used the , but that doesn’t mean that it is a good diet for you. It was actually conceived by a Hollywood trainer, Harley Pasternak, who worked with celebrities and their weight issues. Whereas some people find this diet very easy to follow, others may find that it doesn’t work for their lifestyle. The best to figure out if this is the diet for you, here are some of the basics.

The is simple in how it works. It follows a set of “fives” such as a five-week plan consisting of five meals a day, five ingredients per meal, five minute exercises for five days, and five cheat days in five weeks. It sounds pretty simple and easy to follow for most, but not all agree. Although some do think that it is a very healthy plan that includes all of the foods, vitamins, and nutrients that you nee din a diet as well as an exercise program that includes both cardiovascular work outs and strength training.

However, other experts think that although the plan will help you to lose weight, they think that portion control as well as consuming fewer calories overall is a much more effective way to lose weight then the 5 factor diet. They say that some can find it hard to eat five times a day, and that it can be difficult to come up with five essential ingredients since some can be hard to find depending on where you live.

The plan does recommend certain snacks and meals such as the Protein Berry Shake, Antipasto, Indian style chicken with curried yogurt and brown rice, as well as Salmon with Cucumber-Dill salad. There are many different choices depending on your preferences and they have over 100 recipes total included in the program. Most meals can be prepared at home and eaten there or taken to work if needed.

Along with the recipes the 5 Factor includes a daily meal planner, personal recipe box, shopping list tool, cooking shortcuts, food log, eating out guide as well as other accessories such as an activity calculator, online journal, and online message boards. For some people this diet may be the answer to their prayers but for others it may just be another diet that they start and never finish. It really is up to what your needs are as far as whether or not this diet is for you.

    Hi,

I think that the biggest value of the 5 factor diet is that it’s easy to remember, since everything is 5s. Of course, some people will find it hard to follow depending on schedules or food tastes, but that’s true for any diet.

So the question for me, is this - will I better stick to a diet if it’s as easy to remember as this?
